Post-work questions

1. What connections do you see between any of the sources we used this weekend and your experience on one of the trips outside the classroom?
I think all the sources we used in the classroom was essential to help me learning about the Amish people because everything  we saw was exactly what we learned in class so it helped me to understand better their culture and lifestyle. Most of the things I saw in class I heard during the bus trip or at the Amish farm village.

2. What did you expect this course to be like?  How was the reality similar to or different from your expectations?
I think was everything exactly how I imagined it would be because I was waiting to see details about their lifestyle and that's what we saw during the tour and at Amish farm village , was amazing seeing the animals there , I could see how is their school, so I think everything was really similar to my expectations.

3. How have your opinions or thoughts about the Amish in Lancaster changed?

I used to think that they are strict and that they don’t like to talk with people who are from the community but when I went to the Church on Sunday I saw that I was completely wrong about it because they all came to talk to Us, to try to know us better, so now I know they are really kind with everybody.

4. How did you benefit from this experience?
I think it’s always good for us to expand our knowledge so I’m really happy that I could learn more about another culture and reflecting about my lifestyle because now I know that we don’t need much technology to survive, we just feel more comfortable using all those things.

5. What is one thing you would change about your experience this weekend, if you could?

I don't think I would change anything because everything I learned was amazing  especially because I'm living in Lancaster so it's good for me to know better about the culture of the city and about the people who live here.

6. What advice do you have for future participants in this course?
I would say them to enjoy every single minute because it's really interesting and an amazing opportunity to learn more about other culture and to know new people, also try to pay attention in everything even if you are tired.

7. When you return to your normal daily life here or talk with friends and family at home, what will you say when others ask you who the Amish are?
I will say that the Amish people are kind, friendly and that they love to talk. They have a simple life with no cars, no much technology and they really enjoy it and we just need to respect them as they respect us.
